Greetings! This bloggy is now on a hiatus. I made it through my 60 day health challenge. This site will continue to be a space where I post pics and links now and then.
But the daily updates will continue to be posted here: http://www.theladypastor.com
June 15th: Made It!
I made it! 60 days! No diet soda! Exercising regularly. Much healthier habits.
I’m so thankful! It’s a great start to a new, healthy year of life. :) :) :) :)
Day 56 and 57 (Sunday and Monday)
I had a wonderful day in Minneapolis with my mom on Sunday. We enjoyed the Landscape Arboretum. Such a beautiful place!
This morning, it’s back to Turbofire! My 29th birthday is on Friday, and I’m looking forward to a good workout each day between now and then!
Day 54 and 55 (Fri and Sat)
My cold is almost gone. I have been enjoying nature adventure time. I am looking forward to getting back to Turbofire and running next week. In the meantime, I have been walking lots of steps each day!
Day 52 and 53 (Wed and Thur)
The last few days have been filled with a lot of Kleenex, nose blowing, and coughs. A very icky cold. Bummer!
Day 50 and 51 (Monday and Tuesday)
I’ve been eating “medium healthy” and trying to exercise a good amount whenever I can. Sometimes the exercise is long walks or tennis. Sometimes it’s a little run. Now and then I do Turbofire. Still no diet soda! I do think I contracted a cold. Boo! But I’m going to get rid of it in one day! :) I hope.
Day #49 (Sunday)
Awesome, full day! Great morning at church. Then amazing quality friend time with my freshman year roomie and her beautiful family. Soooooooooo wonderful! And the 5 of us went on a long 4500 step walk!
Day #48 (Saturday)
Visits to a few elderly folks at the Care Center + Leftover Mr. Pizza pizza + tennis + a great deal on zero calorie Powerade = a great Saturday!
It is AMAZING how many steps I get on my Fitbit from playing tennis for an hour! Love it!
Day #47 (Friday)
I got to spend time writing (sermon, council report, newspaper columns) at the library on Friday. Awesome! Loved it!
Then tennis time!
And my mom and I shared a Mr Pizza pizza! It was SO GOOD! Best pizza I have had in a long time. My new favorite pizza in Rochester!
Day #46 (Thursday)
We had a funeral at church today. It was a very special day. It made me thankful to have the career that I have. Totally exhausted. Can’t wait to sleep and unwind.

Day #45 (Wednesday)
It’s been a crazy week in pastor life. I’m looking forward to time off next week. I’m still exercising every day and trying to make good eating choices most of the time (at least 85% of the time). My friend, Karen, made this delicious spinach phyllo recipe earlier this week, and she let me have some leftovers. I ate it for breakfast and dinner on Wednesday! So good!
Day #44 (Tuesday)
Now and then I still blog about fashion, and after day #60 (when I’ve reached my birthday goal), this particular blog will refocus in that direction.
Until then, here’s a link to today’s fashion post on the other blog: The Lady Pastor
Day #43 (Monday)
I hope you had a good, meaningful Memorial Day. I spent the day with my mom, and it was great. We golfed in the morning and went to Oxbow Park in the afternoon. Lots of activity and some great snacks, too (including a small DQ blizzard).
Day #42: Sunday
It has been a great weekend; plenty of work and some good play time, too.
This week’s primary goal: Minimum of 7.5 hours of sleep a night. It’s go time!
Day #40 (Friday) and #41 (Saturday)
I got to spend some time at three of my favorite places in the last two days: The Loop (such a great Rochester restaurant), the Rochester Farmer’s Market, and Good Earth Village!
The wellness plan continues on…haven’t missed a workout in 41 days and haven’t had any diet soda. And I found out yesterday I have 82,000 platelets (very high for me). I’m sticking with...
Day #39 (Thursday)
Lovely flowers brought in from a great pal at church. So sweet. She’s a gem.
All is semi-well in wellness world. I haven’t missed a day of exercise in 39 days! And now diet soda in 39 days either! My biggest growth area is: SLEEP (I need more of it).
Day #38 (Wednesday)
Oh my. Loooooong days lately. But good. Ended the long day with Zumba, which was great.
Day #37 (Tuesday)
Super long day. Got home a little after 10pm, and snuggled up with a bowl of ice cream and a glass of wine. Probably didn’t need the extra calories, but they tasted great. I worked out in the early morning. My friend and I did a workout DVD and then I went for a jog.
Looking forward to a week of vacation coming up in two weeks.
Day #36 (Monday)
I made this recipe for dinner last night:
Warm Beet, Bok Choy, and Feta Salad
It was TOTALLY delicious! I highly recommend it!
Day #35 (Sunday)
Got home from a rewarding 13-hour work day, did a 55-minute Turbofire DVD, and then cooked up some din-din! Wild rice (microwaveable) & asparagus with bok choy. Not too shabby! Now: VERY VERY TIRED. Night, night!
Day #34 (Saturday)
What a great Saturday! Morning: Farmer’s Market with mom (ran into several great pals!). Then, got registered for a 3-month free membership to the YMCA (so amazing….so thankful). A new pink watch. A 1-hour walk with mom in the hot, hot sun. Presided at a wedding at church! Finished up tomorrow’s sermon. Went for a 35-minute run. Cut and juiced some wheatgrass. And...
Day #33 (Friday)
Lunch Break! Hot turkey and iced tea on a hot, wonderful day!
This evening my mom and I did a workout DVD and went for a walk after work. It was great! And my clothes are fitting better these days. Bonus!
Day #32 (Thursday)
By 9:45pm, I still hadn’t exercised for the day. I was tired and wanted to put on pjs. But I remembered the commitment I have made to myself, and I went for it! A 45-minute Turbofire DVD! It felt good.
Next week’s goal: Get enough sleep! I’ve been lacking in this area. I hope you’re having a good week!
PS: John Mayer’s new album is available for listening on...
Day #31 (Wednesday)
I made homemade vegan rice pudding in the pressure cooker! Yum!
Today was a really great day. An early morning run. A fulfilling day of work. Zumba class in the evening. My average steps each day are around 17,000 which feels really positive. Before starting my BNL, I was lucky to get 6,000 steps a day. It feels good.
Day #30 (Tuesday)
Pausing for a pic during a morning run at Gustavus.
The first call pastor retreat ended on Tuesday around noon. I listened to some books on CD for the 2 hour drive back. It was a great event, and I have returned feeling ready to continue on in my goal to become my healthiest self. I went for a run (with a friend) and a long walk (with my mom) on Tuesday evening. For dinner, we had Noodles and...
Day #29 (Monday)
I’m currently at a first call event. It’s for pastors who are in their first 3 years of being new pastors. This is my final first call event! I can hardly believe it. Went for a beautiful run at sunrise this morning. I’m not eating the healthiest because we are eating tons of delicious cafeteria food. But I am savoring every bite! :)
Day #27 and #28 (Saturday and Sunday)
It has been a great weekend of work and fun! And I made my first roast for my momma for Mother’s Day lunch. It turned out pretty yum-yum. Exercising each day. Sometimes it’s long walks, but I figure those are important, too. Hoping to start incorporating weight training in the next week or so.
Day #26 (Friday)
I found this book at the library and thought it was hilarious. Couldn’t resist a photo moment!
All is going well along the wellness journey. I’ve had a mango for breakfast the last few days; delicious! I’m enjoying one cup of coffee with breakfast, too. I ran with a pal Friday morning at 6am. It’s hard to wake up really early sometimes, but I’m always glad...
Day #25 (Thursday)
A garage sale fine! 50 cents! I’m still exercising daily. Sometimes Turbofire. Sometimes running. It feels great. I sleep better and have more energy each day. And no diet soda for almost a month! It seemed impossible, but I realized early on how much better I would feel without it. If you are a diet soda addict, I can totally identify! I had many cans and bottles of diet soda per...
Day #24 (Wednesday)
Joy: I’m currently eating an avocado for a bedtime treat. So good. So, so good. Had a great run this morning with a pal. And a fabulous time at Zumba class tonight after confirmation! Challenge: My leg burn is sore. Ouch! Also, I am getting a little extra relaxed with my eating, so I might go back to putting everything into the “Lose It” application on my phone.
For my...
Day #23 (Tuesday)
Joy: I brought Holy Communion to a few folks today, and they provided coffee! After having cut way, way back on my coffee consumption in recent weeks, it was such a delicious treat! Challenge: Lack of sleep and a stretch of long work days is getting to me. I’m emotionally tired and physically tired. Thankfully I am committed to daily exercise, or I would have definitely taken the last...
Day #22
Today started out a little rough. I accidentally spilled boiling hot water all over my right leg. Ouch. Silly accident. Trying to make delicious oatmeal and made some boiled leg in the process.
I still managed to exercise for 20 minutes with Turbofire. The burn is feeling much better now than it was this morning.
I also washed and dried my beloved Fitbit accidentally. But guess what? It...
15-minutes of jogging = longer life? →
Day #21 (Sunday)
Yahoo! 3 Weeks! It’s DAY 21! I made it 3 weeks! And 3 weeks = a habit! Check out this fun and clever site called 21habit. 5 weeks until my birthday! I’m well on my way to reaching my goal of being the healthiest I’ve ever been by my 29th birthday. Now that I’ve made it to my first goal marker, I will keep posting daily, but it won’t always be the same format of...
Day #20 (Saturday)
Joy: I adored all the free bananas at Synod Assembly! I ate at least 3 a day both days! They had giant bowls of fruit throughout the event! Challenge: I fell down some steps and rolled my ankle. Hopefully it’s just bruised/strained and nothing more. Exercise: 10-minute Trainer Abs, 10-minute Trainer Lower Body
Total Steps: 9,008
Day #19 (Friday)
Joy: Exercising with Anna after a long, productive day at Synod Assembly! Challenge: Eating at events where the meals are already paid for and there aren’t any options is a little tricky. I don’t want to become a super picky eater, but I’m eating pickier by the minute. I really don’t like “wasting” calories on foods I don’t really like. On the plus...
Day #18 (Thursday)
Joy: I did the Turbofire weight-training/resistance band DVD for the first time today. It was extremely challenging but good (I apparently have NO upper body strength). I generally shy away from anything that isn’t cardio. I usually think to myself: “I’d rather burn a bunch of calories and get really sweaty than work on muscle strength.” But lately I hear more and...
